Kelly Clarkson is one of the most popular female singers of the new millenium, and will forever be associated with her win on the first season of American Idol. Her career since the original Idol win has encompassed singing, songwriting and the occasional foray into acting.
Clarkson acted as Blake Shelton’s guest mentor on the 2012 season of The Voice, becoming the sole former TV-singing competition contestant to appear on The X Factor, American Idol and The Voice.Considering her dominance as the most successful winner of such a show, it only seems fitting that Clarkson holds the honor.
Kelly Clarkson’s latest work is her first greatest hits album, titled Greatest Hits – Chapter One, released on November 19, 2012. The album’s release was accompanied by The Smokestack Sessions Vol. 2, an acoustic EP featuring the single Catch My Breath.
Clarkson was also featured on Blake Shelton’s 2012 Christmas album Cheers, It’s Christmas performing the duet There’s A New Kid In Town.
Clarkson is currently working on her sixth studio album, to be released in 2013. Her collaborators from RCA are more creatively free than her previous handlers, and in a Billboard interview Clarkson states “Everyone’s doing a great job – it’s a great working relationship right now… It’s one of mutual respect, which I have not had in the past. [Peter]‘s a song guy. It’s not just about sales for him, it’s about finding a great song and the fact that he has that A&R background is a good fit.”
